VEC Koops - Traffic
Education Centre Koops
A solid company of the Koops family, leaded by Johan
(Jannes) Koops and his both sons Lambert and Theo.
Jannes started his driving school in Westerbork in 1958. Nowadays Traffic
Education Centre Koops in Assen has several specialized instructors and
provides all imaginable training-courses related to traffic. Practical
training-courses for motorcycles (solo and sidecar), cars, trucks, touring
cars, trailers and mopeds. Also various theoretical trainings courses
are part of the possibilities at Traffic Education School Koops. The professional
training course for the transportation of dangerous liquids and the CCV
drivers course are two well-known training courses. However, the training
courses for people with a physical disability motorcycle (A) and passenger
car (B) are special.
For this purpose, Traffic Education School Koops procured several multi-adaptable
training motorcycles. Rob Janssen’s company Allround Technical Assist
built these special adaptable motorcycles. It started in 1995 with a Suzuki
GN 250, followed in 1997 by a Suzuki VX 800. All training motorcycles
can be brought in to action as solo bike or sidecar. These motorcycles
can be equipped in more than seventy different ways; the so called basic
offers. Each control can be placed in practically all positions. All motorcycles
are approved by the RDW and CBR.
Per training (or training blocs) the motorcycles can be individually adapted
to the candidates needs and possibilities. This all happens according
to a so called ‘Status’.
This ‘Status’ is drawn up during an earlier held informative
session. For the first conversion of the motorcycle (in case it is included
in the standard offer) a candidate pays the A-rate. For each following
conversion (when the requirements stay the same) the B-rate will be calculated.
The A- and B- rate are split into several classes, depending on the difficulty
of the conversion. When special supplies are needed, an extra addition
will be charged: the so called C-standard. In this case these unique costs
replace the A-rate. You can find these prices in the enclosure of our
brochure. To reduce extra costs, Traffic Education School Koops advices
to book more than one training course per day. The cheapest option is
to book several successive training courses for a few days on end. VEC
Koops also offers help for practical problems like finding sleeping-accomodations
etc. When deliberated a candidate can take lessons on his own adapted
material. This only happens in exceptional cases and only when the motorcycle
is approved by the RDW and CBR.
Theo and Lambert Koops, both KNMW-instructors, are specialized in adapted
motorcycling. The first lessons take place on private terrain. The first
important steps are: learning the basic techniques, driving ability and
getting used to the adaptations. B
B esides practical training, the candidate also learns all necessary theory
concerning traffic and adapted motorcycling. When a candidate has gathered
enough knowledge and skills, the trainings course will be continued on
public roads. When the candidate’s driving ability is adequate and
the obligatory conclusive driving test is positive, the final examination
is inquired. Because of the strong motivation of the candidates and this
solid training-course, the succession-rate is extremely high.
Afterwards former MMvG-candidates often book additional training-courses.
These so called Advanced Driving Courses or Regional Driving Ability Trainings
handle with
all aspects of motorcycling on a higher and specialized level.
